Burra Railway Station

Burra Railway Station

A handsome 19th-century station from Burra's days as a rail terminus.

The arrival of the railway transformed Burra, linking the copper town to Adelaide and the wider colony. The surviving Burra Railway Station is a handsome stone reminder of that connection and of the freight and passengers it once carried.

Now part of the town's rich built heritage, the station forms one chapter in Burra's exceptionally well-preserved 19th-century streetscape. It rewards visitors who enjoy reading the past in old stone and ironwork.

It sits comfortably within a heritage walk that takes in Burra's mines, gaol and cottages.
