Bon Accord Mine Museum
A Burra museum telling the story of the town's water and mining history on a former mine site.
Set on the site of a 19th-century copper mine, the Bon Accord Museum traces Burra's mining and water-supply history through machinery, photographs and a deep mine shaft once used to supply the town's water. It is one of the stops on the Burra Heritage Passport and gives the human side of the mining boom that built the town.
The displays are hands-on enough to engage children, while the underground story holds plenty for adults. Volunteer guides bring real depth to the visit.
Together with the Monster Mine and the heritage village, it completes the picture of one of Australia's most important early mining communities.
