Watervale
A small village at the southern end of the valley prized for its limestone soils and elegant Riesling.
Limestone and Riesling
Watervale gives its name to one of the Clare Valley's most distinctive sub-regions, where limestone-rich soils produce Riesling of real finesse. Cellar doors such as Crabtree, Annie's Lane and Mr Mick gather around the village, and the Riesling Trail runs straight through. It's a quiet, vine-wrapped pocket that rewards slow exploration, picnics and a cellar-door lunch.
