Old-vine Watervale Riesling and Grenache from a tiny historic vineyard once part of the legendary Wendouree holding.
Clos Clare farms a small parcel of unirrigated old vines at Watervale, including Riesling grown on a block once connected to the fabled Wendouree estate. The result is concentrated, mineral, dry-grown wine with a sense of place few can match.
Now part of the Barry family stable, Clos Clare keeps its boutique identity: limited-release Riesling and an excellent old-vine Grenache that has become something of an insider's favourite. The wines are textural and savoury, made for the table.
This is a label for the curious — small volumes, serious vineyard pedigree and a Watervale character all of its own.
