Watervale Bakery
A much-loved village bakery on the Riesling Trail, fuelling cyclists with pies and pastries.
Sitting right on the Riesling Trail in tiny Watervale, this village bakery is a rite of passage for cyclists working their way up the valley. Pies, pasties, vanilla slices and proper coffee come without ceremony, exactly as a trailside bakery should.
There is something deeply satisfying about leaning a bike against the wall and demolishing a hot pie in the morning sun. It is fuel, but it is also part of the ritual.
A humble, essential stop — the kind of place that quietly defines a region as much as its grand cellar doors do.
