A short climb to a rocky outcrop above Clare with one of the best panoramas over the township and surrounding vineyards.

Neagles Rock rises on the western edge of Clare, and the short walk to its summit delivers the finest free view in the district. From the top, the whole township spreads out below, ringed by vineyards and rolling farmland that turn gold in summer and green in winter.

It's an easy outing — a steady climb of fifteen to twenty minutes from the car park — and a popular spot to catch sunset, when the valley glows. Interpretive signs along the way explain the local geology and the Neagles Rock vineyard that shares the name.

Bring sturdy shoes, water and a camera. It's the kind of quick stop that gives you the lie of the land before a day of cellar-door touring.
