The Best Lookouts in the Clare Valley

Eight places to see the valley — and the country beyond it — laid out at your feet.

The Clare Valley is gentle country, but it knows how to stage a view: long ridgelines, sudden scarps and a patchwork of vines and wheat that changes colour by the season. These eight lookouts range from drive-up easy to summit-walk serious, and every one of them is free. Photographers should aim for the golden hours — the logic is explained in where to find the Clare Valley's best views — and cyclists will find several within reach of the Riesling Trail.

Carry water and sun protection on the walking-access lookouts — shade is scarce on the high ground, and the Mid North sun does not negotiate.
