Paxton Square Cottages
A row of restored 1850s miners' cottages in Burra, now heritage self-contained accommodation.
Built in the 1850s to house Cornish copper miners, the long terrace of Paxton Square cottages is one of Burra's most evocative survivals — and you can sleep in it. Restored and run as self-contained heritage accommodation, the stone cottages let you stay inside the town's mining story rather than just reading about it.
The rooms are simple and characterful, with open fires and period detail, and the location puts the Burra Heritage Passport sites within easy reach. Waking up in a 170-year-old miner's cottage adds something the modern motels down the road simply cannot.
A natural base for exploring Burra's mine, gaol and museums.
