Mark and Skye Bollen make tiny parcels of dry-grown, single-vineyard Clare Valley reds - shiraz first among them - at their family cellar door on Spring Gully Road.
Sussex Squire is the Clare Valley at its most personal: a small, family-owned cellar door on Spring Gully Road at Gillentown, where fourth-generation farmers Mark and Skye Bollen pour wines made from their 16 acres of dry-grown shiraz on the western side of the Skilly Range.
Production is deliberately tiny - many wines run to only 100 to 150 dozen bottles - across shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, sangiovese, malbec, mataro and grenache, with a couple of whites alongside. Tastings are seated and unhurried, spread over two tasting rooms.
