Auburn Shiraz Trail Trailhead
The southern gateway to the Riesling Trail, where the Shiraz Trail begins in historic Auburn.
Auburn marks the southern end of the Riesling Trail and the start of the connecting Rattler and Shiraz trails, making it the natural launch point for a ride up the valley. The historic stone township - birthplace of poet C.J. Dennis - is full of restored colonial buildings and makes a charming place to begin or end a day on two wheels.
From the trailhead the path runs flat and traffic-free toward Watervale, Penwortham and Clare, threading past cellar doors and vineyards the whole way. Bike hire and shuttles operate from the village, so you can ride one-way and be collected.
Whether you start here and pedal north or simply explore Auburn's heritage streets, this is where many Clare Valley adventures begin.
