Hill River is a rural locality on the eastern side of the Clare Valley, named for the seasonal watercourse that runs through it. The area is characterised by open grazing country, gum-lined creeks and quiet back roads that reward exploration.
It's a peaceful corner of the region for a scenic drive, with birdlife along the river and views back across the vineyards of the valley.
