A pioneering Polish Hill River riesling estate run by a winemaking family.
Tucked into the cool eastern folds of the Polish Hill River sub-region, Wilson Vineyard has been a quiet champion of Clare Valley riesling since the Wilson family planted here in the 1970s. The estate built its name on tightly structured, slow-developing rieslings that reward patience in the cellar.
The next generation now tends the dry-grown vines, broadening the range to include grenache and other Mediterranean-leaning reds while keeping riesling at the heart of things. Tastings are unhurried and conversational, the sort of cellar door where you talk soil and seasons as much as wine.
It sits a short drive from Sevenhill and Mintaro, making it an easy add to a day spent exploring the valley's eastern edge.
